LUCASFILM/THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Star Wars fans may be eagerly anticipating a new Clone Wars animated epic and even a live-action TV series set in the galaxy far, far away, but they’ll have chance to relive their favorite moments from the trilogies even sooner. And they won’t even have to remove the protective wrapper from their DVD boxed sets to do it.

For the first time ever, the complete saga of six films will air on one basic cable network when Spike TV presents Episodes I-VI in nightly installments April 4-6 and 12-14.

Spike’s presentations will offer special Lucasfilm features that include behind-the-scenes footage of Revenge of the Sith (which is making its broadcast premiere) and a sneak peek at the upcoming video game The Force Unleashed.

And in case you’re wondering — yes, these will be the digitally remastered versions in which Hayden Christensen was inserted at the end of Return of the Jedi, Ian McDiarmid appears as the Emperor’s hologram in The Empire Strikes Back and Greedo shoots first in A New Hope. Sorry, purists.

Here’s the schedule:

  • Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace (1999, PG*) Premieres Friday, April 4 (8:00 — 11:00 PM, ET/PT; Encore Saturday, April 5 (5:00 — 8:00 PM, ET/PT) & Sunday, April 20 (8:00 — 11:00 PM, ET/PT & 11:00 PM — 2:00 AM, ET/PT).
