Laura Dern, appearing this December as a new character in Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi, has won her first primetime Emmy Award for work on television after being nominated six times.
Her Emmy win comes for being a outstanding supporting actress in a limited series or movie for HBO’s miniseries Big Little Lies.
Dern co-starred in the original Jurassic Park. Her Last Jedi character, Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, makes her first appearance as a young woman in the recent young-adult Star Wars novel Leia: Princess of Alderaan. Read more about the mysterious new Resistance character here in a review of the book.
The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson, opens Dec. 15.
