Hulu is making a ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ series

PHOENIX – The beloved comedic sci-fi story is getting yet another makeover and heading to a screen near you through Hulu streaming services. The new series will be written and produced by Carlton Cuse and Jason Fuchs Deadline reports.

The story of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy started as a BBC radio series by Douglas Adams and ran six episodes in 1978 before the writer turned it into a classic novel.

It has since been rebooted several times including a movie directed by Garth Jennings that starred Martin Freeman, Zooey Deschanel, Sam Rockwell, Allan Rickman and more.

The plot follows Arthur Dent, an Englishman who is worried about his house being bulldozed when his friend, Ford Prefect, rushes the pair into outer space, thus saving Dent from the destruction of the Earth by a group of aliens. Prefect reveals he too is an alien and is a journalist working on “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” Dent is then taken on a galactic adventure like no other.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is now owned by the Disney Corporation who own Hulu, which makes sense since the series is in route to be developed by Hulu via ABC Signature and Cuse’ Genre Arts according to Deadline.

We only hope the new series can do the British novel justice. Though if it is anything like the 2005 adaptation, most fans might say you are better off just reading the book. CW6 KASW
