If you thought Unca Scrooge and the nephews would be picking up where they left off in DuckTales, you’re living in La La Land. (No, not that one.)
In the first trailer for Disney XD’s reboot of the beloved late ’80s/early ’90s adventure cartoon, it quickly becomes clear this is a DuckTales reboot, at least in terms of Scrooge McDuck’s relationship with nephews Huey, Louie and Dewey. But it definitely recalls their original meeting in the old pilot story, “Treasure of the Golden Suns.”
Only this time, Scrooge is a somewhat washed up adventurer, perhaps eclipsed by Donald, and the boys are full of modern snark. It looks like a money bin full of fun! The new DuckTales, starring Doctor Who’s David Tennant, takes off this summer on Disney XD. Here’s a description to go along with the trailer:
A first look at the all-new family comedy-adventure series “DuckTales” premiering this summer on Disney XD. The series stars David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck; Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan as the voices of Huey, Dewey and Louie, respectively; Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack; Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack and Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, and will follow the epic family of ducks on their high-flying adventures around the world.
I think you could say Disney is pretty confident they’ve already got a hit on their hands, as DuckTales has been pre-approved for a second season!
