Big Finish Productions continues to mine the Doctor Who universe for material, recently revealing in Doctor Who Magazine that a series of full-cast audio plays will debut soon featuring characters and actors from the canceled TV series Class.
Centered around Coal Hill Academy, a spooky school with roots going back to Doctor Who’s very first episode in 1963, Class was the third TV spinoff for the 21st century incarnation of the British science fiction adventure series, after Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. It only lasted one season.

Class: The Audio Adventures will reunite refugee alien prince Charlie (Greg Austin), hobbled footballer Ram (Fady Elsayed), “Shadow King” April (Sophie Hopkins), whiz kid Tanya (Vivian Oparah), exchange student Matteusz (Jordan Renzo) and bodyguard/frenemy Miss Quill (Katherine Kelley) for two volumes this August.
Joining the cast is Sophie Aldred as Ace, who traveled with the Seventh Doctor in the original 20th century incarnation of Doctor Who at its very end. She’s visited Coal Hill before in 1988’s “Remembrance of the Daleks, episode” fighting the titular tin-alien mutants with a super-powered baseball bat (so be sure to listen for references to that…). The Daleks are also set to make an audio appearance here.
Class ended (or, rather, didn’t end) on quite a cliffhanger, but according to director-producer Scott Handcock in DWM these tales will be set “within the TV run” — so, don’t necessarily go looking for any closure or resolution there.
