Bionic vision? Yes, please!

British surgeons have begun implanting special silicon lenses into patients’ eyes giving them radically improved vision. The surgery can impart better than 20/20 vision and offset the effects of aging on the eyes. Sky News reported that the lenses can be adjusted after being inserted via a special beam of light. Once the patient’s vision is perfect, another beam permanently sets the lens. This technique can even make the lens bifocal, providing great vision both near and far.

It’s one more step towards shedding the constraints that nature has imparted to our fragile meat bodies, and I whole-heartedly approve! Throw some infra-red, enhanced night sight or heat vision in there and you can sign me up. Unfortunately, it probably costs more than “twenty menthol Kools” though.

Here and there ...
