Hey, I warned you.
Put away the launch codes. What you see above, according to officials in Raleigh, N.C., is a colony of worms infesting a private sanitary sewer in the Cameron Village residential development.
Ed Buchan, environmental coordinator at the Raleigh Public Utilities Department, told News 14 Carolina that the phenomenon is documented, but still rare. “Every now and then, you see something like that. Generally, the only things you see in sewer lines are roots, grease, maybe a rat or some bugs,” he said.
The YouTube viral video, which caught officials’ attention after it was featured on Gawker’s sci-fi blog io9, could easily be mistaken for a homemade special effect — albeit a pretty good one. But the swift response of officials to explain the horrid, pulsating sacs certainly puts me at ease. How about you?
The truth is out there.
I watched this video and to me and my grandma it looked like an alive piece of poo or someones organ that got in the sewer. One thing we both agreed on is that we hope that the ugly thing stays in the sewer and doesn’t come out!!
