The Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures shorts have been a fun new take on the classic trilogy, taking the original audio and using it to present familiar scenes from a fresh perspective — all geared toward engaging a new generation in the classic stories. (As if that were a problem — but it’s still been fun.)
A new installment takes Luke’s first unknowing meeting with Yoda on Dagobah and enhances it with visions of the diminutive Jedi master’s illustrious past. Another recent entry dipped even further into the prequel past than the remixes have been generally known to, showing even brief glimpses of young Obi-Wan Kenobi and his impetuous padawan Anakin Skywalker getting smacked down at the beginning of Yoda’s battle with Count Dooku on Geonosis at the dawn of the Clone War:
But it’s Yoda’s first, mischievous meeting with Luke in the swamp, grabby and playful, that highlights the Jedi master’s fun side, which carried over into his spectral form in Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi. Haters of that film’s direction are well reminded here of similar criticism back in Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back, when the Yoda puppet itself, along with the splitting of the heroic party, was a gamble the filmmaker and cast feared would be a disaster — but it certainly paid dividends instead.
