PHOENIX – Though the park has only been open for a little over a month, people are already taking merchandise from Disneyland Resort‘s newest land, Galaxy’s Edge, and reselling it on shopping sites like eBay.
There appears to be an entire black market for the rare findings you can only see at the California theme park. Items such as maps, cups, water bottles, and even sporks are being sold for outrageous prices! The kicker? Most of the items are not for sale originally and were stolen from the park to later be sold for hundreds of dollars.
Galaxy’s Edge opened its doors to guests with a reservation on May 31. It then opened completely to the public on June 24. This exciting new area includes attractions and restaurants such as Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo and Ronto Roasters. Their second ride attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, is expected to open later this year.
One of the items up for grabs on eBay is an opening-day park map. This special map, which was handed out for free upon entering the park, is now priced from anywhere between $5-20 plus shipping. Keep in mind these were free.
Another popular “souvenir” available for purchase are the sporks found at Docking Bay 7. They are made from metal and have an interesting design on them to make them look as if they belong on another galaxy. This utensil was given out to guests with their meals and is priced up to $500 on resale sites! The sporks were not supposed to leave the restaurant and it is rumored they are not provided at the park anymore.
Other novelties on sale include big-sellers such as rare gifts given out at press previews of the land in addition to small items like Dasani water bottles sold at concession stands inside Galaxy’s Edge.
Regardless of the item, reselling is no joke and The Disney Company takes it very seriously. In the past, guests have had their annual passes revoked for reselling merchandise, even if it actually was for sale in the park.
Please, don’t ruin it for the rest of us who had to wait to visit the new land. All we want are sporks served with our Braised Shaak Roast.
