Princess Leia leading the way in parent-teacher relations?

Princess LeiaShe is NOT a committee. But apparently she CAN be an inspiration to frustrated educators.

An article in Education Week highlights what one English teacher calls the “Princess Leia approach” to more meaningful parent-teacher relations: “L” for listening, “E” for empathy, “I” for imagining and “A” for asking. The article gives examples from Star Wars to illustrate each point.

“Before our next parent meeting we might want to recall Princess Leia and her gifts for listening, empathizing, imagining, and asking good questions,” writes Larry Ferlazzo.

And she wasn’t bad with a blaster, either. You know – if it comes to that.

Hat tip to East Valley Tribune education writer Michelle Reese.
