Matthew Broderick is Adventure Time’s ‘Dream Warrior’

Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Television

Matthew Broderick will provide the voice of a new character in Cartoon Network’s mind-bending animated series Adventure Time. The Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star will play “The Dream Warrior,” a used car salesman summoned by heroes Finn and Jake during a shared dream to offer advice on defeating their rival.

“I heard about Adventure Time because my son, James, loves it,” Broderick said in a statement released by Cartoon Network. “I like that it doesn’t talk down to anybody.”

Broderick is no stranger to working in animation, having provided the voice for adult Simba in Disney’s The Lion King as well as the heroic titular mouse in The Tale of Despereaux. But Adventure Time is likely to be his strangest voice role.

Broderick’s Adventure Time episode, titled “Who Would Win,” is set to premiere 7:30 p.m. Eastern/Pacific on Sept. 3.
