The lizard caves of Los Angeles

Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Strange Maps recently posted excerpts from the Jan. 29, 1934, edition of the Los Angeles Times, in which a reporter told the story of a mining engineer who quested for a legendary underground city, the tunnels of which are believed to be laid out in the rough shape of a lizard. Thus the headline, “LIZARD PEOPLE’S CATACOMB CITY HUNTED.”

The blogger points out how others have speculated whether tales of such a lost civilization, first told to the treasure hunter by a wise old Indian, could be the basis for conspiracy theories about humanoid reptilians who secretly rule our world.
