Author, songwriter and performer Steven Brust has been added to the guest list for CopperCon, the annual Arizona science fiction and fantasy convention taking place Aug. 29-31 to Embassy Suites Scottsdale, 4415 E. Paradise Village Pkwy S., Phoenix. [MAP]
Brust joins the roster after the previously announced music guest, Tom Smith, had to cancel due to illness. Other guests include: writer Greg Weisman, creator of the Disney Afternoon cartoon Gargoyles (which you can watch daily on Toon Disney) and producer of the animated series The Spectacular Spider-Man on The CW4Kids; comic artist David Hedgecock; author MaryJanice Davidson; and Anthony Alongi, co-author (with Davidson) of the Jennifer Scales novels and a writer on contract for Hasbro.
There also will be an art show, charity auction, a dealers room, RPGs and LARPs, a sci-fi/fantasy/cosplay masquerade set up like a fashion show and short film screenings.
Attendance is $45. Attendees ages 7-12 are half-price and kids younger than that get in free with a paid adult admission. For more information, refer to http://www.casfs.org/cucon/. CopperCon is presented by the Central Arizona Speculative Fiction Society.
