TV Guide magazine (yes, it’s still a thing) held a Fan Favorites competition online to determine the show that will be on the cover of this week’s issue. The winner was Doctor Who! This makes the first time the magazine has featured the long-running British sci-fi series on its cover, though it long has been a cult favorite on these shores.

Doctor Who fans toppled such competition The Walking Dead and The Vampire Diaries to claim the cover spot for their favorite show and its mercurial star, Matt Smith. It’s quite an honor for the series, especially considering it has relegated the not-insignificant death of American TV icon Larry Hagman(I Dream of Jeannie, Dallas) to the inside of a flip-over cover.

Congratulations, Whovians! This is a great way to gear up for next year’s 50th anniversary celebration.
