It seems that sci-fi veteran and Shakespearean powerhouse Patrick Stewart will guest-star in Doctor Who next year.
Reports say Stewart, who played Capt. Jean-Luc Picard in seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as four movies, will play a Time Lord, a member of the Doctor’s own supposedly extinct species from the planet Gallifrey.
The Sun also says the story in question will be a two-parter featuring the Time Lords’ greatest foes, the Daleks — who are also meant to be extinct now.
Stewart and Doctor Who star David Tennant worked together recently in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Hamlet. The Former portrayed Claudius and the latter the melancholy prince himself. Doctor Who is on extended hiatus to allow Tennant time to do stage work but four specials, including the traditional Christmas romp, will fill the void until a fifth regular season picks up in 2010.
