Charlie Jane Anders’ All the Birds in the Sky won the award for best 2016 novel at the Nebula Awards, announced Saturday night in Pittsburgh at the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America’s annual conference.
David D. Levine won the Andre Norton Award for Young Adult Science Fiction and Fantasy for Arabella of Mars.
Arrival, a big-screen adaptation of Ted Chiang’s short story Story of Your Life starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker, written by Eric Heisserer and directed by Denis Villeneuve, won the Ray Bradbury Award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation.
Best novella went to Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire, best novelette went to The Long Fall Up by William Ledbetter, and best short story went to Season of Glass and Iron by Amal El-Mohtar.
Fantasy author Jane Yolen, once dubbed “America’s Hans Christian Andersen” by Newsweek, was honored as a Damon Knight Grand Master for her contributions to the literature of science fiction and fantasy.
