Variety is reporting that “Transformers 2” will hit theaters on June 26, 2009. Michael Bay is in the final stages of negotiation to direct the sequel, and Shia LaBeouf is also expected to return. Steven Spielberg, who took an executive producer credit on “Transformers,” was closely involved with the film, including bringing Bay aboard to direct and LaBeouf to star, is also expected to be involved in the sequel. New character rumors include Soundwave, the Dinobots and Constructicons, and possibly a transforming aircraft carrier – an idea which was too expensive for the first film. I guess we’ll have to wait a while longer until we see Unicron. The action-packed, super-entertaining summer blockbuster “Transformers” has grossed over $700 million worldwide. If you missed it, the movie is currently showing at IMAX theaters in Phoenix and Tempe at Arizona Mills. The DVD and HD-DVD are being released on October 16th. As a fanboy of Transformers, I thought this movie was amazing. Sure it had some flaws, but it exceeded my expectations and was the most entertaining movie I’ve seen in a long time.
