Originally intended to be a Tom Cruise starring vehicle, after seeing Salt, it was truly an act of the cinema gods that led to his departure and Angelina Jolie’s involvement. This is her movie, from start to finish, and she doesn’t disappoint.
Jolie’s captivating screen presence aside, Salt delivers a classic spy story that hearkens back to the good ol’ days of 90’s action movies, where the Russians are bad (and so are their accents) and the nuclear warheads are ready for liftoff. Throw in a plot that actually manages to keep the audience guessing, and you’ve got the perfect mix of ingredients for a truly enjoyable summer flick.
