If the Lucasfilm Story Group thinks throwing out one Death Star glamour shot after another and dangling Darth Vader in front of us is going to fill theater seats on Dec. 16 when Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes out … well, let’s face it, they’re probably right. But fortunately the first “anthology” film’s appeal goes deeper than that, as its last trailer shows.
In Rogue One’s final trailer, we get our first look at Mads Mikkelsen’s Galen Erso, who is now definitively tied to the Death Star project. We learn where the movie’s name comes from. We see the Empire at its most fearsome, and the Rebellion at its lowest point — but, as Jyn Erso reminds us, “We have hope,” and “rebellions are built on hope.”
