Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher star in Ivan Reitman’s No Strings Attached. Chronicling the misadventures of Emma and Adam, two 20-somethings who decide to have a “no strings attached” sexual relationship (with complications sure to follow), you’d think this movie was a been-there-done-that romantic comedy stereotype. But with a stellar cast (that includes awesome performances from Kevin Kline, Greta Gerwig, Lake Bell, Ludacris, Jake Johnson, Mindy Kaling and Olivia Thirlby), No Strings Attached manages to make this stale genre fresh and new. The performances are spectacular, the humor is genuinely funny and the drama is believable and weighted by the truly talented cast. Portman steals the show and proves her dramatic career is only a facet of her acting ability. Those worried this role might hurt her chances at Oscar gold for her chilling performance in Black Swan, don’t worry – she proved herself.
