It’s difficult to envision Wade Wilson plastered on a Christmas card. The sarcastic mercenary is known for cracking crude jokes, not candy canes. That said, it looks like Wilson has more holiday cheer than we realized.
Come December, Deadpool 2 will return to theaters as a PG-13 Fox Christmas flick entitled Once Upon A Deadpool. The remake will be released in theaters on Dec. 12 and run through Christmas Eve.
According to Deadline, footage from Deadpool 2 will be edited to meet PG-13 requirements for violence and language. The movie will also feature new footage in the form of a framing sequence collaborated on by Ryan Reynolds, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.
Reynolds revealed that the limited-engagement release will serve as a fundraising effort. For every ticket sold, $1 will go to the F-ck Cancer campaign, which will temporarily be renamed “Fudge Cancer.”
“Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2016,” Reynolds informed Deadline.
“I’ve said ‘no’ since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…”
Savage stars alongside Reynolds in the framing sequence for Once Upon A Deadpool, which replicates the bedtime-story set-up from The Princess Bride. Released in 1987, The Princess Bride is a timeless classic that features Savage as a child actor.
Now, here’s the question of the hour: What list will the Deadpool cast be on? The naughty or the nice?
I guess we’ll just have to find out.
