Nike seeks patent for Marty McFly’s self-lacing sneakers

Wired reports that Nike has filed a patent for self-lacing sneakers like those seen worn by Marty McFly and his hapless son in Back to the Future II.

What this means is that the futuristic footwear could be on track to be on shelves by 2015 — the year the movie took place.
