“The magic always returns”
By Francesca Mia Gomez
PHOENIX – Mark your calendars! Mary Poppins Returns is set to hit theaters this December, and Disney just released a new trailer for the movie.
The two-minute trailer showcases some seriously incredible animation mixed in with reality, proving that everything is possible, even the impossible (see what we did there).

The trailer starts off with Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) coming to watch over the Banks’ kids. When the Banks family sees Poppins, they are shocked because it looks as if she hasn’t aged at all! Throughout the trailer, Poppins takes the Banks’ kids on what appears to be a magical journey.
The message of the film is clear. “No one should ever forget what it’s like to be a child.”
And, if you think the trailer is cool, check out the poster below:

The film also features an all-star cast including Lin Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, Julia Walters, and many more. Oh, and people are saying it’s crazy (in a good way) how Dick Van Dyke looks the same since he played Mr. Dawes in the original Mary Poppins movie in 1964. In the trailer, Van Dyke is shown dancing to some pretty awesome choreography.

Watch Van Dyke explain in this video from 2010 how he got the part in the original Mary Poppins movie.
One thing’s for sure. This is bound to be a whimsical hit at the box office. Top spot? Probably.
“Off we go!”
