Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker’ origin movie gets release date

By Valeria Quintana

PHOENIX – Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie officially has a release date.

Warner Bros. has confirmed that the standalone movie, simply titled Joker, will hit theaters Oct. 4, 2019. The studio made the announcement before the start of Comic-Con.

The film, directed by Todd Phillips and co-written by Scott Silver, is said to have a dark tone, and is an “exploration of a man disregarded by society that is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.”

Production for Joker doesn’t start until later this year, but it’s already one of the most anticipated films in the DC Universe. Warner Bros. is also developing another separate stand alone Joker film starring Jared Leto.

Who will play the better Joker? We’ll have to wait and see.
