By Weslie Swift

PHOENIX – Congratulations may be in order for Jake Gyllenhaal. The Oscar-nominated actor is on his way to entering the multi-billion dollar empire of Marvel Entertainment.

Currently, Gyllenhaal is being primed to play the Marvel comic book villain, Mysterio, in the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming.

If cast, he would join Michael Keaton, who will be reprising his role of Vulture.

Also back for round two, Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Zendaya as M.J., and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.

The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, which remains unnamed, is scheduled for release in July of 2019.
