PHOENIX – Pixar’s long-awaited sequel to The Incredibles hit theaters this past weekend and fans were quick to show their support.
According to NBC, the film earned $180 million its first weekend, breaking the box-office record for the largest opening for an animated film.
Fans waited 14 years for The Incredibles 2, so it’s justified that they show a little more enthusiasm. One moviegoer went as far as to dress up as Frozone.

The superhero film also earned a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes with critics claiming the movie “reunites the crime-fighting team for a long-awaited follow-up that may not quite live up to the original, but comes close enough to earn its name.”
Rumors for other Pixar series include a Toy Story 4 in 2019, but no matter what film is next in line, keeping an audience waiting seems to be working.
In fact, a new study shows sequels for Pixar movies tend to do better than the original.
