Columbia Pictures has released the first official image of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man in the next installment of the Marvel superhero franchise.

Garfield, 27, will star as Peter Parker opposite Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as villain Dr. Curt Connors, according to IMDb. Garfield most recently starred as Eduardo Saverin, co-creator and CFO of Facebook, in The Social Network last year.

Other notable names in the project include Martin Sheen, Sally Field, and Denis Leary.

Now filming, the Spider-Man reboot is directed by Marc Webb and is planned to open July 3, 2012.
