We got a sneak peek of him during the Super Bowl, but now with this official picture of Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, Lord of the Rings) as Red Skull, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly and Marvel Entertainment, we’re able to get a good close look.

Nazi weapons developer Johann Schmidt (Weaving) undergoes the same experimental serum that Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) receives that transforms him into Captain America. However, because the premise of the serum is to bring out one’s inner strength, this Nazi naturally becomes horrible and terrifying. Like Nazis do.

Click here to read Entertainment Weekly’s interview with director Joe Johnston (October SkyThe Wolfman). Captain America: The First Avenger comes to theaters July 22.

So what do you think of Red Skull’s look? Intimidating? Gross? Both? Neither?
