Disney working on first VR short film

By Weslie Swift

PHOENIX – Disney already gets us emotionally, but now they’re going to make it feel like we’re actually in the film!

Disney Studios will debut its first virtual reality short film some time next month. The short film is called “Cycles” and centers around the true meaning of creating a home.

“We hope more and more people begin to see the emotional weight of VR films, and with Cycles in particular, we hope they will feel the emotions we aimed to convey with our story,” said Jeff Gibson, director of Cycles.

The new film marks a major experiment by the studio to use virtual reality to enhance a story.

Gibson has also worked on FrozenZootopia and Moana.
