Aliens Vs PredatorSega on Wednesday revealed plans for an new Aliens vs. Predator game in early 2010 to kick off its franchise of games based on the Alien films. The game is in development with the independent studio Rebellion, creators of the landmark 1999 multiplayer game Aliens versus Predator. Sega promises more information “very soon.”

With this news, Sega has “strategically updated the release of other upcoming Aliens titles currently in development within its portfolio” — meaning if you want to play the highly anticipated Colonial Marines game this year, you can probably forget it.

“By adjusting the release of our other Aliens titles to accommodate it (Aliens vs. Predator), Sega will ensure that every title lives up to the high expectations of Aliens and AvP fans,” Sega West CEO Naoya Tsurumi said in a statement.

“SEGA continues to create masterful games based on our Aliens franchise and this new addition is sure to continue their successful track record,” said Gary Rosenfeld, senior vice president for new media at Twentieth Century Fox licensing.
