Dungeons & Dragons setting sail with Ghosts of Saltmarsh

Sail the Seas in Dungeons & Dragons with Ghosts of Saltmarsh Adventure Releasing Everywhere May 21

The rumors are true: The next Dungeons & Dragons product, now revealed as Ghosts of Saltmarsh, will set sail for high-seas adventure when it releases May 21.

Ghosts of Saltmarsh will update classic adventures from AD&D First Edition and Dungeon magazine for the game’s Fifth Edition. The 256-page hardcover book, available in a standard edition as well as an alternate cover “snarling sahuagin” cover by N. C. Winters with a soft-touch finish available exclusively for game stores, will also see a simultaneous digital release on the D&D Beyond content platform.

The book details the port town of Saltmarsh and the surrounding lands players can explore using their own ship and the vehicle mechanics, with adventure hooks for each chapter. Groups can play through the story in a seafaring campaign leading characters from levels 1-12, or Dungeon Masters can go on a fishing expedition and selectively use content in their ongoing campaigns set in any D&D setting. Appendices detail ship-to-ship combat, new magic items, monsters and more.

“The Saltmarsh series consistently ranks as one of the most popular classic D&D adventures,” said Mike Mearls, franchise creative director of D&D, in a statement.

“With its ties to ocean-based adventuring, it was an obvious step to augment it with additional sea-based adventures and a robust set of rules for managing a nautical campaign.”

Retailing for $49.95, Ghosts of Saltmarsh is available for pre-order now.
