‘Rock Band 2’ to bring about ‘Chinese Democracy’

Rock Band 2

No, it’s not a regime change in the world’s most populous nation, but something we’ve waited for almost as long. The first single from Guns ‘N’ Roses long (long, long, long…..) delayed album “Chinese Democracy” will be making its debut with the September release of RockBand 2. The track is entitled “Shackler’s Revenge”.

It’s among the more than 80 songs that will come packed with the newest version of the game. The announced set list is up on the official RockBand page. The first RockBand was one of my biggest motivations to buy an XBOX360 and the sequel looks like it’s going to turn the volume up to 11! My inner rock star is getting the tight leather pants, angry snarls, catchy tour names (the “No More Airplanes” tour) and substance abuse problems ready!

Better instruments, more music by the original artists, more features and backward compatibility with the original RockBand music, what more could you ask for? Time for a pre-order!

As intrigued as I am to hear a new GNR track, I must admit it’s nowhere near the top of my list of songs I can’t wait to play. Glancing over the list so far, my top five looks like this:

5 – “Spirit in the Sky” by Norman Greenbaum

4 – “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor

3 – “Where’d You Go?” by the Mighty, Mighty Bosstones

2 – “I Was Wrong” by Social Distortion

1 – “Battery” by Metallica Best Metallica song ever, hands down, end of story.
