A Mesa Community College student placed in the Top 8 in the Senior Division of the Pokemon Trading Card Game World Championship Aug. 13-14 in San Diego.

Nineteen-year-old Jeremy Jallen, one of more than 400 players from 27 countries, finished sixth and earned a $1,500 scholarship. He recently spoke with College Times about his achievements as a world championship finalist.

To make it to the invitation-only event, Jeremy had to take part in many Play! Pokemon events throughout 2011 at the city, regional, state and national level.

Way to go, Jeremy!
