PHOENIX – Now you can catch Pokémon even with your eyes closed… literally!

Pokémon Sleep allows users to catch Pokémon in… well their sleep. The mobile app uses an embedded accelerometer to track how long the player sleeps and sends this data to their smartphone through Bluetooth.

“The concept of the game is for players to look forward to waking up every morning,” said Pokémon’s chief executive, Tsunekazu Ishihara.

Another spokesperson said Pokémon Sleep will be a nice way to “reward good sleeping habits.”

There is no word yet as to what rewards await those who get a decent amount of sleep. However, the game also functions exactly like Pokémon Go. Meaning, players are also able to roam around and catch Pokémoneven during the day!

The Pokémon Company announced this new game at a recent press conference. Pokémon Sleep is expected to launch in 2020.
