Digging through FNAF theories: Baby and Springtrap’s connection?

Old School RPGs - Available Now @ DriveThruRPG.com

There has been lots of speculation at this point when it comes to the teaser on fnafworld.com. With all of the teasers currently being released for the Five Nights at Freddy’s book, “FNAF: The Twisted Ones,” this one teaser has seemed to be left behind. However, I feel there is a great chance that this teaser will become something much greater once the hype from the new book has calmed down.

This one particular teaser features an animatronic character’s eyes, and these are presumed to be Baby’s eyes. Considering these eyes are green and resemble hers the most, it would be safe to assume that. There are a lot of questions relating to these teasers, and I will do my best to give my input as answers.

The first main question is: Why are this teaser on fnafworld.com instead of Scott Cawthon’s main website, scottgames.com? I believe that there are a few reasonable FNAF theories and answers as to why that could be. My first guess would be that he is allowing the teaser to be on the secondary site so it can be on the backburner while the book is being released. It is a good possibility that Scott Cawthon (the developer of Five Nights at Freddy’s) is wanting fans to focus on the book at the moment than whatever this teaser is going to eventually represent for the series.

The second theory is a bit less likely, but is still a possibility. Even though the spin-off FNAF game, FNAF World, was put to rest and ended a while back, this could be a sign that this game is making a comeback. I personally doubt this is the case, as FNAF World received so much criticism and this would basically be Scott Cawthon shooting himself in the foot. Him bringing this particular game back for more updates simply seems very unlikely for me. Despite that, many fans are speculating that this could be the case. Out of the two possibilities, I am leaning more towards the first option.

Another big question fans have is why this teaser seems to be so similar to the FNAF 3 teaser of Springtrap, where that teaser reads, “I am still here.” When saving this most current teaser of presumably Baby’s eyes, it is titled, “Iamstillhere.jpg.” There seems to be a clear connection between the two characters, which was hinted at in the end of Sister Location’s Custom Night cutsccene.

The first point we should note is who is controlling Baby’s animatronic suit. In the pixelated mini in Sister Location, her eyes are noticeably blue. After eating and killing the little pixelated girl with green eyes, Baby’s eyes change to green and portrayed that way in the main game. Therefore, it is likely that this little girl is possessing the Baby suit. During one of Baby’s talks with the player in the game, she talks about how there was one little girl, and indirectly states that she was the cause of that little girl’s death.

Let’s look ahead to the ending cutscene for the Custom Night of Sister Location. This shows us a scene of the aftermath of the Fazbear’s Fright fire. During this scene, Springtrap’s voice is heard for the first time. He explains that he found something that right where his father said it would be. By this point, we can confirm that this is Michael, William Afton’s son, speaking to his father. He then goes on to say that he “found her, and put her back together.” He could possibly be talking about the spirit of the little girl that was murdered and the ties she had with Baby. Springtrap/Michael’s last words in this scene are, “I’m going to come find you.”

To me, this is a clear indication that Baby and Springtrap have close ties with one another. Whether they are blood related or not, Springtrap now seems to be on a mission to find his father after putting the little girl back together, perhaps through the Baby suit. I believe this is why Scott Cawthon made the two teasers of presumably Baby and Springtrap so similar. He wants us to see the distinct and clear connection between the two characters.

So, what could this mean for the series? In my opinion, Scott Cawthon is hinting to something much greater, but is keeping it under wraps at the moment so fans can focus on the new book release. Perhaps this teaser could lead us to further understanding the connection between Baby and Springtrap. My main guess is there is something coming up that will sweep us off our feet, such as a new game. I think that many of our recent questions regarding Baby and especially the future of Springtrap are going to get answered in the near future.

Once again, these are all theories and speculations. I am doing my best to put the pieces together from this teaser, the lore, and all of the other speculations to come to a solid conclusion of what this could mean for the future of Five Nights at Freddy’s. I am sure in the near future, most of our questions relating to this teaser and the future of these characters will be revealed in some form, most likely a new game release. It is a rather difficult wait, but surely it will all be worth it in the long run.
