In this new Kickstarter campaign, award-winning gaming studio Kitfox Games brings new life into the dungeon crawl genre with Boyfriend Dungeon. And fans are excited; less than 12 hours from launch, Boyfriend Dungeon has already hit their initial funding goal of $65,579 CAN (roughly $50,160 US).
The game is currently set to be released on Steam for PC, Mac, and Linux. Kitfox Games will also offer a DRM-free versions of Boyfriend Dungeon for PC, Mac, and Linux via the Humble Store.
Romance your swords! Capture the hearts of weapons to level them up in this “shack-and-slash” dungeon crawling adventure. Forge relationships and save Love itself!
In Boyfriend Dungeon, players will have the opportunity to romance up to six personified weapons, from swords to daggers. The romance will also be inclusive (not just titular “boyfriends”), and include female and non-binary weapon characters as well.
Curious about who you’d want to date? Kitfox Games even has a Wielder Test to help gamers prepare for romance.
The Kickstarter rewards range from the base game, to some more ambitious options that include Boyfriend Dungeon’s Art Director Xin Ran Liu rendering yourself (or your loved one or your pet) as a weapon that might actually make it into the game. Other fun items include some stylin’ swag, the ability to consult with the game creators, and a body pillow of your preferred Boyfriend Dungeon character (current options are game characters Dagger and Talwar).
The buzz for this project has already hit Twitter, as “Boyfriend Dungeon” started trending this morning on the platform.
Kitfox Games’ previous works have included Six Ages, The Shrouded Isle, Moon Hunters, and Shattered Planet.
Fans can meet the development team at PAX West 2018 this August-September in Seattle (Booth #656).
