Nintendo is pushing back the release date of the Wii game Metroid: Other M two months to Aug. 31.
The company, which teamed up with developer Team Ninja on the update of the classic franchise, told Kotaku: “Although it’s taking slightly longer than expected to complete the project, we’re confident that fans will find it to be well worth the wait.”
The game blends 2-D side-scrolling action of the original NES title with 3-D perspective and a look into bounty hunter Samus Aran’s mysterious past. There’s also a new Wii Remote control scheme “in which players use the Wii Remote controller, held sideways, to battle enemies and navigate the expansive, gorgeous environments in classic Metroid fashion, then aim at the screen with the Wii Remote pointer to blast foes in first-person and hunt the world for clues and hidden passages.”
