Nintendo announced today that it will begin selling a 3-D version of its handheld gaming system within a year, called the Nintendo 3DS. There were few details revealed — those will come at the E3 trade show in June in L.A. But we know it will have a 3-D display that does not require special glasses, and it will be backwards-compatible with games made for earlier DS models.
Hopefully the 3DS will be more impressive than the Virtual Boy…
Later this month, on March 28, the company will celebrate the U.S. launch of the DSi XL, a larger-screened version of the popular portable system expected to sell for $189.99.
