Epic Mickey 2 gets release date at E3

Oswald and Mickey team up for the first time ever in the Epic Mickey sequel.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is in full swing this week and among the hundreds of announcements has been the official release date for Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. According to Disney officials, the game is set to be released on Nov. 18.

The sequel to the original Epic Mickey has pushed its newest additions of co-op game play with new character Oswald and usage of musical numbers as noteworthy changes so far, but has yet to really dive into the details until now.

According the various trailers and behind the scenes footage dropped by Disney at the event, Oswald will utilize his ears as a means to glide around stages in the game. Even better is that Mickey can grab onto Oswald’s feet when he does this, in order to tag along. In addition to more mobility, Oswald’s remote control weapon can not only send out arcs of electricity, but also create temporary force fields around the team during combat.

A lot of the Disney Interactive team’s focus appears to be on relating Oswald as the origin of Mickey and addressing Oswald’s importance as his own independent character. How this will play out in the actual story remains to be seen, but players only have a few months to wait until the game’s release.

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two will be released on the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
