EA pushes ‘Sims 3’ back to June

The Sims 3

The Sims 3, which had been due for release later this month, has been delayed. Electronic Arts says the PC edition will ship to stores worldwide starting June 2, with Mac, iPhone, iPod Touch and mobile device editions slated for a more vague “summer 2009” release.

Gosh darn, what will we play now?

Read on, if you even care about The Sims, for some riveting spin from EA that somehow manages to turn the delay into an advantage!

“The June launch combined with the breakthrough game the team is building gives us the perfect runway to create awareness for The Sims 3,” said Russell Arons, vice president of marketing for EA, in a press release that mysteriously makes no mention of the original release date of Feb. 20. “The Sims 3 will be the original IP summer blockbuster of 2009 as we build off the success of the best-selling PC franchise of all time to create awareness with both loyal Sims fans and new players.”
