
Doctor Who may soon be coming to a video game platform near you. According to MCV, BBC Worldwide is looking to turn key intellectual properties into games for the Nintendo DS and Wii, iPhone and Facebook.
The broadcaster has avoided the interactive entertainment realm since it shut down its multimedia division in 2005, according to The Doctor Who News Page.
“Outside of Disney we have the most well-known line-up of children’s characters around the world,” MCV’s report quoted Neil Ross Russell, a licensing executive with BBC Worldwide.
Doctor Who video games have been spotty, both in terms of quality and quantity. Most have been PC based, and several were simply text adventures. The reinvigorated series is long overdue for a top-notch console adaptation.
Beyond Doctor Who, you can definitely expect to see a game based on Top Gear, BBC’s hit car magazine show. Personally, I think Fawlty Towers is ripe for a casual strategy/simulation game in the style of Diner Dash …
