A STREET FIGHTER IV SCREENSHOT SHOWS M. BISON AND RYU SCRAPPING IT OUT. ALL IMAGES COURTESY OF CAPCOM.
We all knew it was coming (or at least hoped), but Capcom has confirmed Street Fighter IV will be released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and even the PC. No release date has been set, but the highly-anticipated fighter will be available for home consumption sometime after its release in Japanese arcades this summer.
I’ve been a big fan of the Street Fighter series of games since the first one was released in 1987. I’m not kidding when I say I spent the majority of my spare time and money playing this game while growing up in smalltown Illinois. Whether it was at the crappy video rental store, or the lame arcade at the mall or in some shady and smokey corner of the local truck stop, I played the crap out of Street Fighter.
In recent years I’ve picked up some of the old and newer versions of the game on Xbox Live. They are fun and nostalgic, but lack the next-gen look and feel of games today. It looks like Street Fighter IV will fix that.
New photos and videos of the game have been heating up the interweb for months. The newest evolution of the game will be similar to the old ones in terms of the 2D fighting setup, but the 3D rendered characters, backgrounds, special effects give it an amazing look that should impress new and old gamers alike. Most of the classic characters (Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, and Guile) will return and some new faces (Crimson Viper, Abel, El Fuerte, and Rufus) will join the fun.
