Arizona’s arcade ruins

The “Modern Ruins” series of posts over at io9 just pointed me to the depressing “Video Decay” photostream on Flickr from photographer Thomas Schultz. The poor condition of these Star Wars and Zaxxon cabinets just about sums up the sad state of arcade gaming in America today. (Has anyone ever played Bandido?)

Flynn’s Arcade, preserved beneath a mere layer of dust and billionaire broken-home tears, this is not.

Schultz lives in Surprise, and it looks like the photos are from somewhere in Arizona’s 928 country.
