Trevorrow out as Star Wars: Episode IX director

Here we go again.

Colin Trevorrow is no longer helming the untitled Star Wars: Episode IX.

Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.

This comes just months after Phil Lord and Christopher Miller also “parted ways” with Lucasfilm over differing visions for the upcoming Han Solo spinoff prequel. Ron Howard ultimately stepped in the finish that project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, script issues have bedeviled Episode IX’s development process, with Trevorrow going through multiple drafts and losing the confidence of Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
