According to Variety, Disney has paid Paramount for the rights to market and release future films in the Indiana Jones franchise — which apparently wasn’t part of their acquisition of Lucasfilm as a whole last fall.
Not only will Paramount get a cut of the existing four films’ distribution, but they’ll also profit from any future installments.
Does this make it certain that there will be a fifth Indy movie? Variety seems to think so, and it makes sense. But will Disney pin the franchise on an aging star, or explore other possibilities such as a reboot or even animation?
