‘Weird Al’ is coming back to town

Weird Al animatedNot even a year after his first show in a decade in Arizona outside of the State Fair, “Weird Al” Yankovic is coming back for more.

The pop-culture icon will perform 8 p.m. June 10 at Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino in Chandler. Tickets run $37.50 to $75.

Below you can watch Yankovic in one of my favorites of his weird works, “The Saga Begins,” a send-up of Don McLean’s “American Pie” that riffs on Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace.

The live-action feature film project he was working on with Cartoon Network never materialized, although he did appear in a recent episode of the cable channel’s Batman: The Brave and the Bold that was a send-up of the old Scooby-Doo cartoons featuring celebrities.
