Vul-Con logoThe Vul-Con strategy gaming convention isn’t until Feb. 25-26 at the Phoenix Convention Center, but you can get a taste of what to expect at a preview event next weekend.

Samurai Comics on East Camelback Road in Phoenix will host Vul-Con Arena III on Dec. 10, hosting a wide sampling of the gaming goodness that will be available at February 2012’s main event.

In addition to open board gaming, there will be Wings of War and Dust Tactics tournaments, HeroClix and other miniatures gaming, Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition, a Magic: The Gathering tournament, Steve Jackson Games and more.

Then, in February Vul-Con’s guests of honor include such ludi luminaries as Italian strategy game designer Andrea Angiolino (Wings of War), Tunnels & Trolls game designer and fantasy author (and Phoenix resident) Ken St. Andre, Wizards of the Coast and Chaosium roleplaying game artist Stephen Missal (who illustrated the Call of Cthulhu RPG and also serves as a forensic reconstruction artist for Maricopa County), graphic novel artist Paul Guinan (Heartbreakers), Warhammer 40K game designer and author Andy Chambers, Magic: The Gathering artist and Dust Tactics game designer Paolo Parente, Laughing Moon Chronicles author and game designer Todd VanHooser, and model/actress/costumer Caribean Sera.

Let the games begin!
