UPDATED! Tempe has narrow lead to host ‘Wolverine’ world premiere; voting ends Friday

Wolverine Hugh JackmanAs of Thursday morning, Tempe ZIP code 85281 has received the most votes in the U.S. to host a star-studded world premiere for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Voting ends Friday at 8:59 p.m.

The Top 10 cities currently in the lead, according to a press release, are: Tempe; Davis, Calif.; Hastings, Neb.; Austin; Melbourne, Fla.; St. Louis, Mo.; Zelienople, Pa.; Dixon, Ill.; Phoenix; and Dallas.

To vote, visit either www.harkinstheatres.com or www.x-menorigins.com/premiere. The winning city will be announced Monday, and the film will open there a week later.

Harkins Theatres wants to show the film at the Cine Capri at Tempe Marketplace.

UPDATE!

As of 5 p.m. Arizona time Thursday, Davis, Calif., is gaining on Tempe to host the world premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
