Jean-Luc Picard and crew are coming back to the big screen

OK, I’ll admit it — the headline is a cheap grab for your attention. But chances like this don’t come along every day, so — Make it so!

On July 23, to promote the next day’s release of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s first season on Blu-ray, two episodes from the 1987 season will be screened at movie theaters nationwide. (I first heard the news this weekend in the promos before Prometheus, but TrekNews and Zvents have all the details.)

Among Valley cinemas showing the remastered episodes “Where No One Has Gone Before” and “Datalore” will be Mesa’s Cinemark 16, AMC’s Ahwatukee 24 and Desert Ridge 18 in Phoenix and Arrowhead 14 in Glendale.

The screening and Blu-ray release coincide with the 25th anniversary of the show’s premiere season.
