Royale, FilmBar join forces to promote Valley’s indie film scene

Downtown Mesa’s new retro grindhouse theater, The Royale, and downtown Phoenix’s indie movie house and lounge, FilmBar, are teaming up to promote and support each other.

“This will be fantastic for both our downtown communities and the entire Valley Metro area as a whole,” said “Midnite Movie Mamacita” and Royale owner Andrea Beesley-Brown in a statement. “The Royale and FilmBar combining forces is a natural partnership.  I’m very excited about this opportunity.”

FilmBar owner Kelly Aubey said: “I am happy to cross-promote and support Andrea’s new venture, The Royale, given her long-time dedication to independent film and support of local business.  It made sense for us to form a strategic partnership and work together.”

The Royale opened earlier this summer after years of Beesley-Brown running film events at screens around the Valley. The 21-and-over FilmBar opened in March.
